All of you out there who depend on some mode of transportation that requires fossil fuel have probably notice the price of the stuff lately. Even I who’ve been hiding under a rock have noticed it. One of the signs is that some of the drivers on the freeway are actually driving slower. I thought I’d never see a day when people are driving 10 miles per hour under the speed limit. An optimistic person might chalk it up to the fact that some of these people spontaneously realized how dangerous it was to drive more than 20 miles over the speed limit and out of courtesy for other drivers on the freeway they decide to reform their ways. I, being somewhat practical and slightly pessimistic, think that some the jerks who were speeding are now having financial difficulties when it comes to paying for their fuel. So instead of burning gas like a nascar rally, they slow down to conserve fuel. Serves the idiots right. See? I’m not completely pessimistic after all. I see benefits in higher fuel costs. Fewer idiots.
Notice that I didn’t capitalize nascar. I don’t deem it important enough to capitalize. How can any grown person derive pleasure from watching cars go round and round really fast? That question is not rhetorical by the way. Anyone who can give me a lucid explanation, please do so. I’d like to know . . . for real.
