Pregnancy as discussed by men

Went out to lunch today with some co-workers. Anyway, the topic of one of the guy’s pregnant wife and soon-to-be-born baby came up. Be aware I’m paraphrasing here. Phonographic memory is not one of my abilities or talents.

Me: So how’s the baby doing?
Greg: Good. But her belly is really solid. Nothing like mine [he’s been on and off on his diet] all squishy. Hers is really solid. The baby’s kicking a lot. Really strong kicks. And it makes these movements that kind of writhes in her belly. You can actually see it when it’s shifting around.
Me: Man! That would freak me out. [Thinking to myself, “Sorta like Aliens. I don’t think I’d want to be near her belly when that writhing action’s going on. That and the fact that the last thing I’d want is to be the first meal for baby Alien.” It was good I didn’t say it out loud though.]

Eventually, we got to speaking about people who save the placenta and I’m not kidding you here, eat it! I offered my own little story about a guy I used to work with who with his wife took the placenta after each of her pregnancies and use it as fertilizer basically. What they did was to dig a hole in their yard. Place the after-birth in the hole and then plant a tree in that hole. Weird? Yes, but apparently it’s done a lot according to this guy I talked to. Anyway, afterwards, we got our lunch, and it was all good.
