Bye bye 2008 . . . HELLO 2009

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I would put 2008 on the record books as one of the more interesting years.  I don’t just mean this in the generic world changing and paradigm shifting manner that news media tend to paint in broad strokes.  It includes my own personal perspective.  I started out 2008 in fair shape.  Then out of nowhere I find out my appendix has rebelled against me and decided to commit suicide.  Let me say that it was very unexpected.  I plan for many things in life, but I never pencilled in for a busted appendix.  Those 4 days I spend in the hospital gave me many things upon which to ponder.  I’d like to thank my boss for being generous enough with his time to wait in the emergency room while I had my appendectomy.  My family sincerely thank you for being there for me.  I sincerely thank you for being there.  I’d also like to thank the hospital staff for the care and professionalism I received.  I can truly say that our medicine is among the finest in the world.  It may not be the cheapest, but it is staffed by people who know what they’re doing.

That incident colored how the rest of the year turned out.  I can after all I’ve gone through, I am grateful to be alive.  I am grateful for the people who surround me:  family, friends and coworkers.  It is these people whom I strive for.  I wish for their happiness and prosperity.  In return, I seek my own happiness and prosperity.  Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.  May 2009 bring more intesting times.
