Have I mentioned that the internet has provided me hours of amusement and interaction in ways I would never have possibly guessed a decade ago? I just spent half the afternoon perusing people’s weblogs. I do this every weekend to see what sorts of crazy acts of human nature appear next. I have yet to be disappointed. And just browsing around took me here for example. The site got me to thinking about a statement I read awhile back. William Gibson once wrote in one of his fictional novels that the “rich are not human anymore.” I might be misquoting Mr. Gibson, but I agree with that statement at face value. The rich are still human, but the needs that drive them at their most basic level isn’t as strong or possibly replaced by higher level needs. This of course brought back to mind a conversation I had a year ago, pertaining to money. I told a friend that money is good and fine, but that in quantities, it had a proportional affect on the inidividual who wielded it. “It magnifies the strengths and the flaws of the person who has it.” I believe that was what I said. Will you listen to me? I sound like some now-it-all who just got out of school. I better stop before I start lecturing.
